New England minus Vermont & Connecticut

I'm back~~~ Been so lazy after my parents visit on April. Now, May is gone. I think I should really keep up on my blogging. So, parents here for the entire April. Of course, we traveled! This time, it's the East Coast. Basically just Boston as my mom's best friend lives there and as our host during our visit. We also touched base on some other New England states such as Maine, Rhode Island and New Hampshire but no time for Vermont and Connecticut. It's OK. There's always next time. We expected to be stormy but it turned out to be super sunny and hot. We were lucky!

Since I was with my parents, the trip wasn't too intense but I think we seen enough. We finished the entire Freedom Trail in Boston, visited the beautiful beaches in Cape Cod, mansions in Rhode Island, lighthouse in Maine, etc. and, the TAX FREE liquor store in New Hampshire! As for the food, of course, we didn't miss the seafood and the yummy Italian pastry in Boston. Instead of trying the famous lobster in a resturnanat, we cooked it at home! They were yummy!

One of my goal of this trip is to see if the general idea about "East Coast people are cold and West Coast people are nice" is true or not. Here is my very true own experience, during the purchase of the mansion ticket:

I asked, "Which mansion would you recommend?"
Sale girl replied, "They all pay my bills."
I asked again, "So, which one is more popular?"
Sale girl said, "The Bakers."

This becomes our joke of the trip. In fact, we didn't get any recommendations anywhere during our trip. Not buying tickets during sightseeing nor in a restaurant ordering food. But in the end we did get everything we asked for. So, I wouldn't say East Coast people are cold but they are definitely not as friendly as people in the West. Well, I still like the East. I like the "dense city like" atmosphere and short distance between things, which is very hard to find in the West. Anyway, it was a good trip and it's priceless to spend time with family!

The Baker Mansion at Newport, RI. I would say it is beautiful but not too impressive.

The Cliff Walk outside the mansion. Very worth to take a walk. Mansion with a view like this? Amazing!
Starts of the Freedom Trail - Capital. We also finished The Black History Trail.
One for the stop of the Freedom Trail - oldest cemetery in Boston. There are cemetery everywhere in Boston! You cannot avoid passing one wherever you go!
Lunch during our break on the Freedom Trail - the famous New England clam chowder.

Second day lunch during our Freedom Trail -The Daily Catch at Northend. Very good Italian seafood place with affordable price. Cash only and  you need to be there early! Very limited seating. We missed the chance to try the "Lobster Fra Diavolo" as the lobsters had not arrived that day yet. But here is my favorite amount all that we ordered, the "Black Pasta". Yum~~~
Love the red brick house in Boston! Beautiful!
Tea time break during the second day Freedom Trail - The Mike's Pastry. Here I finally tried  the true  sfogliatelle  (lobster tail) pastry. It was so good! Completely different from the fail one made by my Italian pastry class instructor. I also had the best cannoli I ever had here! And I learnt my cannoli is totally shit!
One of the church on the Freedom Trail. Very interesting.  In order to worship here, you will need to buy your own cubicle.
The end of the Freedom Trail - the Bunker Hill Monument.
The Nauset Lighthouse on Cape Cod. It also appear on the Cape Cod Kettle Cooked  Chips!

The Nauset Beach next to the lighthouse but it was still too cold to get into the water.
The Nubble Lighthouse in Maine. Awesomely beautiful but very windy day!
Here it is, the famous Boston lobster, before we cooked it.
Here it is the TAX FREE liquor store in New Hampshire.
Some fresh oyster in New Hampshire. Only $1 each. On my!
The beautiful hallway inside the ICA. I can seat here for the entire  afternoon.
My favorite place during the trip - ICA in Boston

Stamps I collected during this trip. Still a long way to go!
